Bearicuda Bins always brings new and innovative Bear Proof products to market. Our new bear-resistant enclosure as well as an original recycling center, created to keep hungry, curious bears, primarily grizzlies and black bears, out of garbage, while at the same time maintaining easy accessibility of waste disposal by humans.
The Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee, in conjunction with the Living with Wildlife Federation, tested the cans at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana in October, 2012. To be considered strong enough to withstand a bear?s scrutiny, the bins must survive 60-70 minutes of curious pawing by a bear.
Even Kobuck the Destroyer, a very clever grizzly who has proven that he can turn his wrist around into a supine position to open latches, and his buddy, Sam the 1100 pound Kodiak, couldn?t figure out how to get inside! Both the individual can and the recycling units passed as free standing units without having to be bolted down into cement.
We are familiar with adverse weather. Both the individual cans and the recycling centers have angled tops so that snow and rain will run off easily. They are easy to open and use, and are handicapped-accessible.
The individual bear can is 26 inches wide, 26 inches deep, and 42 inches tall. It is built with 12 gauge steel and weighs about 225 pounds. A simple 32 gallon bin can be placed inside the can for easy disposal of garbage.
The dimensions for the bear recycling center is 10 feet long, 25 inches deep, and 49 inches tall, and includes 5 separate, clearly-marked units: aluminum, newspaper, plastic, trash, and cardboard (or whatever recycling designations are desired). 12 gauge steel is used and these units weigh about 665 pounds.
Both the individual can and the recycling center come painted but not powder coated and comes in a variety of colors. Each recycling center will only need the addition of five 32 gallon plastic garbage bins which makes emptying very easy.
The individual cans each weigh about 225 pounds. The recycling units weigh about 650 pounds and sit on legs for easy forklift maneuvering. A hook can also be added to either for easy machine lifting.
Unique, custom-made artwork is designed individually with each customer, and placed on the front of each can or recycling center. The dimensions of the scene for the recycling center are 72" by 18", and for the individual can they are 20" by 20".
