It all started back in 2007 when a buddy and I were talking after dinner one night. I never liked the look of messy trash cans outside a home. I wanted to create something really nice that could add to the look of the home while hiding the trash can inside. I happened to glance out the window at my wife planting flowers outside and thought what if we had somekind of planter on top of the box.
But it has to be functional too. So my friend Dean and I started talking and brainstorming ideas. We thought it would be a pain if every time you had to through something out you had to take the can out of the box. So Dean suggested, what if the the planter part was not stationary, but could slide in and out. We could make it a drawer that can slide out to reveal the can inside the box. You can then lift the lid and access the can through the top.
That really got us excited. We knew we were onto something. so we started drawing out sketches of what we thought it would look like.
...originally called the planter bin, then the potter bin and finally the secret potter.
